iPhone Charging backwards?

does anyone know why my iPhone is charging backwards? It’s so frustrating! It was on 37% and I noticed it started to go down... it got onto 1% then died I turned it back on and it showed it was on 5% and I put it on charge with my wall adapter and it started charging but kept going down? Anyone got any ideas or a solution ? thanks
