Again, your Mac mini is capable of supporting up to 2560 x 1600 video out its single Thunderbolt/Mini DisplayPort.
So no adapter for mini display port to dvi or hdmi can be use with a standard 2k monitor like mine.
There are numerous graphics display resolutions terms being tossed around.
- 2K would be DCI 2K with a resolution of 2048 x 1080 that uses an aspect ratio of 256:135
- 2K is sometimes mistakenly used with Full HD, which has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 that uses an aspect ratio of 16:9
- Your monitor appears to support a maximum of 2560 x 1440. This resolution is known as either QHD or WQHD. It also uses the 16:9 aspect ratio.
As I mentioned already, your Mac mini is capable of supporting 2560 x 1600. This is called WQXGA and has a 16:10 aspect ratio. Apple used WQXGA in their 30-inch Cinema Displays, but I'm not aware of any other manufacturer that uses this resolution. Most likely, yours does not either.
I think the best resolution you can expect with this mini and monitor is going to be 1920 x 1440 FHD ... and you could use any of the following combinations that should work to provide it:
- Mini DisplayPort to Single-Link DVI adapter (Note: The Mini DisplayPort on this mini is at version 1.1)
- Directly via the HDMI port
- HDMI to Single-Link DVI adapter (Note: The HDMI port on this mini is at version 1.0)
