Crestron AirMedia devices on large enterprise network crashing Apple screen mirroring application
We have deployed Crestron AirMedia devices which offers completes audio video experience using their hardware. It also offers screen sharing/screen casting capabilities via Wifi and LAN networks. Users within our network are looking to use this technology using Apple native screen sharing application. Since these devices sit on our network and use multicast, every time a user opens the application for screen sharing, it scans the entire network and tries to display all devices. Since we have over 600 devices, it's crashing the Apple native application and makes the user experience pretty horrible. I'm trying to find out if there is a way to limit the number of devices that gets displayed within the app. We've configured Bonjour forwarding within Meraki access point configuration but haven't had any luck with it since it only works with subnets. I'm looking for some best practises suggestions. Also, is there a way to show only the devices that are within the closest proximity? We want to avoid creating multiple wifi SSIDs. Any suggestions or feedback will be greatly appreciated. Is there a hard limit in Apple iOS which has been tested? Possibly, we can try to lower the number of devices on the network. This issue is affected to iPhone, iPad, etc across multiple iOS versions.
