Catalina update and MS Office 365

Just updated to Catalina on my mac. Excel and Word have circles with slash on them. Attempting to open I am led to downloading Word and Excel app, then 1 month free followed with $69.99/year. I was unaware. Any way around this?

All 32 bit software is dead in Catalina. So if you have Office 2011 or older, it will not work. You will either have to restore your Mac to a previous OS from a backup, or purchase a new version of Office.

Current is the subscription version Office 365, or the one-time cost perpetual license Office 2019.
