aol email won't download any attachments

I have a new 16" MacBook and it was working fine until I installed the Microsoft home office download. Now my AOL email won't download any type of attachment, PDF, word, photos, nothing. Help?

I can't imagine this could be caused by Microsoft Office. So, there's something else I'd ask you to check: Safari has a new feature whereby you can deny individual sites the ability to download files. Perhaps it happened inadvertently with AOL. In Safari, click the Safari menu > Preferences > Websites > Downloads and check the list. Here's an example in which I've allowed apple.com to download files:
