Hi JaumeBS,

This table has a Header Row, and a Footer Row. The Body Cells in column B are formatted as Text (aligned left).

The SUM is 0 (as expected).

Format Column B as Automatic or Number (select the Body Cells and Format Panel > Cell > Data Format > Automatic or Number).

The cells are now aligned right and the SUM is (correctly) 6.

Regards,

Ian.

Use the Value() function in an added temporary column to convert the values into numbers.

Copy the results, then set the Data format of the original cell to Automatic, select the first cell in that column, and go to the Edit menu and choose Paste formula results.

Select and delete the temporary column.

Hi Jaume,

My Language & Region uses dot (.) as the decimal separator.

Does the CSV (Character Separated Values) document use dot as the decimal separator?

Does your Language & Region use comma (,) as the decimal separator?

That may be why Numbers thinks it is text.

Please tell us your Language & Region.

A screen shot of your table will help us to see what you see.

Ian.

You are absolutely right , in switzerland we use a dot(.) as decimal separator.

That's the reason the conversion from text format to number do not apply.

Now I'm trying to change the dots(.) by a comma (,) . Still it is a cumbersome exercise.

Do you know whether NUMBERS has a shortcut to make a massive change in a column that allow me to make such change ?

Thanks a lot for your dedicated and professional help

Regards

Jaume
