apple mail chimes

Seeing a very strange behavior in Apple Mail. Noticed that I'd get occasional Mail chimes as if an incoming email arrived, but when looking at Apple mail there's nothing new. Restarted mail and my computer, but still having the same issue.

Yep, tried it and def don't have any rules. I generally don't get much email in my iCloud account and usually have all my messages as read immediately after receiving them. This is the first time that I'm wanting to keep a message as unread (as a reminder to myself).

For now I just marked it as read and setup a reminder in the Reminders app. Also went ahead and filed a bug report, but not holding out much hope it'll be fixed. Considering how ingrained iCloud is in MacOS, not sure I wanna go the route of removing the iCloud account and re-adding.

Which has no obvious linkage to Mail and a stuck message and mail-generated chimes, which is the source of my curiosity for your proposed linkage. If the audio output is hosed, it’d presumably be hosed for more than mail, and wouldn’t seem related to the seen/unseen status of messages.
