Shortcut Automations

So I was creating an automation to turn my volume up to 60% when my AirPods are connected. For some odd reason nothing changes when connected to my AirPods. Anyone know a solution?

Hello V3nds,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities! I understand that you've created a personal automation in the Shortcuts app to turn up your volume to 60% when AirPods are connected, however the automation is not working as expected. You've come to the right place for help.

I'd like to start by clarifying that while you can create a shortcut to set the media volume at a certain level, this would not impact the volume level of ringer and alerts. The Shortcuts app doesn't support creating a shortcut or automation for the ringer and alert volumes, so this would still need to be manually changed in Settings on your iPhone, or with the Volume up/down button:

Adjust the volume on iPhone - Apple Support

If it is the media volume you'd like to control, could you tell us the exact trigger and actions that you used to create this automation? You can see this information when you follow the "Enable an automation" steps in the resource below:

Enable or disable a personal automation - Apple Support

It should show something along the lines of:

  1. Enable This Automation is set to On.
  2. When: When [your iPhone] connects to [your AirPods]
  3. Do: Set Volume. Tap on the right arrow here to confirm what the media volume shows it will set the volume to.

Cheers!
