Subtitles on Apple TV

How do I permanently turn off subtitles? It doesn’t matter the streaming service I watch Netflix, Hulu, etc. I swipe down on the touchpad and turn it off but as soon as the next shows starts they are turned on again. It’s extremely annoying..
