See if the hardware is recognized in System Information (?)

>(Option key) System Information>Hardware>Camera

example of recognition, both model and Unique ID:

if not, you have a hardware problem—Take it in

In or out of warranty you can get a free over the counter 'Apple Service Diagnostics' test /assessment

Make an appointment for a "hardware issue"—

Hey!

Actually, I am facing currently with the same problem. My Mac recognizes the camera. Here is my Apple forum discussion where I brought out the exact problem: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/251186757. 2 months ago the same problem appeared in my Macbook Pro after one update. I am 95% sure that it's a software problem. Unfortunately, I still haven't find any solution for this. If you find it, I appreciate if you can share it with me as well.

Thanks!
