iOS13 Reminders - Outlook Task Categories Disappearing
Since upgrading to iOS 13, I am experiencing a bizarre issue with Exchange Tasks sync’ed to my iPhone XR. For work and for personal use, I extensively use Outlook Tasks sync’ed through an Exchange account, and I use Outlook Categories to group these into different projects and next actions (GTD-style). Due dates are used to schedule when I need to do these tasks.
I have the Exchange account set up on my phone with Reminders switched on. This means the Exchange Tasks sync to the Reminders app on my phone. I have used this for as long as I’ve had an iPhone to see my Tasks while on the go, and to quickly enter new Tasks while I’m out and about. Of course, the Outlook Categories do not sync to Reminders, but I live with this limitation as I can always assign categories when I get back to my laptop.
Since upgrading to iOS 13 (and the problem persists all the way through to 13.3.1), at precisely 09:00 every day, the categories are wiped from any Tasks with a due date of today or earlier. No other Tasks are affected - it is only those with a due date of today. Nothing else seems to be affected on the Tasks, it is just the categories that are removed.
I have tried everything I can think of to resolve this - for example, switching off/changing the time of the new Today Notification setting for Reminders, removing the Reminders app from my phone, removing any third party apps that access Reminders, resetting the phone, etc. The only thing that seems to prevent it happening is to switch off Reminders for my Exchange account on my phone. This is obviously not ideal as I then don’t have access to my Exchange Tasks on my phone and can’t use Siri to add new Tasks.
It only seems to be my iPhone that causes the problem - Exchange Tasks sync’ed to Reminders on both iPad (iPadOS 13.3.1) and Mac (Catalina 10.15.3) are fine.
Has anybody else experienced this? Or have any suggestions for preventing it happening? Or even able to offer any theory on why it might be happening - it’s been driving me nuts. There are some discussion on Microsoft forums but I’m pretty sure it’s linked to Apple and specifically iOS 13.
Thanks in advance.
