Keyboard/trackpad not working on resume from hibernate in Windows 10 (Macbook Air 2019)

Hey guys,

I'm running Windows 10 1909 on a 2019 Macbook Air. I've been using Bootcamp on Macbook Airs for years and have never encountered a problem like this before.

When I resume the computer from Hibernate (but not from sleep), mouse and keyboard inputs will not work. The only thing I see is my wallpaper and a bunch of 'USB Device Not Recognized' notifications sliding in from the right. I've searched and searched but can't find anyone who has a similar problem.

Has anyone got any ideas about what might be causing this? Generally it's after the computer's been asleep for a long time (I put it to sleep, and when I wake it, I get the Windows logo and it takes time to resume - no instant on, and then the messages about 'USB Device Not Recognized' start rolling in).

If anyone's got any ideas I'd love to hear them. Thanks for reading

In macOS -> About This Mac -> System Report -> USB, if you click on each device, you can see the PID/VID.

For example,

Selective Suspend allows some (or all) of the devices connected to a USB 'hub' to be suspended to reduce power consumption. Some of these devices are supposed to be used for waking up Mac/Windows from Sleep. Such devices may never be suspended.

Not sure what's changed, but with the current crop of Macbook Airs, Hibernate is a no go (and for some reason battery life on Windows is a lot worse - maybe the retina display/maybe Windows not being given system level access to moderate the GPU at the hardware level, I have no idea)

Fingers have been pointed at thermal throttling used by Apple to enable thinner/compact designs. Windows runs a bit hotter on Macs, compared to a regular PC. Do the fans turn on frequently?

No not at all - my last Macbook Air on Windows 10 (mid 2015) ran much hotter and the fans needed controlling. The fans on the 2019 refresh seems to hardly ever spin up, I've just gone from 10 hours battery life to 7 with the same programs/setup/use case.

It's very weird - the 2019 was toted as 'all day battery', and you do always lose battery life when running Windows, but I wasn't expecting it to be a step backwards from 2015's model.

Sure, I suspect it's something to do with USB drivers but I'm not certain. Thanks for sticking with this LonerT, I really appreciate it. I think the powercfg -energy report might help more, here are the errors it's throwing up (I disabled Bluetooth and the Facetime camera in Device Manager, so those are known). What do you make of this? I'm at a loss
