copy formatting in Pages

Hi all,

Is it possible to copy text from Pages into an email without losing all the formatting? I have to copy per-written responses into my email for my job daily, and all of my formatting and hyperlinks never come along, not to mention that all the text is pushed together. I have read how to copy the formatting in Word, but cannot find a similar protocol for pages. I just need everything to stay the same (hyperlinks, italics, underlined words, etc.) There has got to be an easy fix for this!

Hello cortney279,

After reviewing your post, it sounds like you want to know how to copy and paste text formatting. I would recommend you use this article for more information.

"Copy and paste a text style

Do one of the following:

- Select the text with the style you want to copy. The style of the first character in the text selection is what’s copied. Select carefully—if the first character in your selection is a white space, the text where you paste the style is replaced by white space.
- Place the insertion point in the text with the style you want to copy. Everything that you would see if you were to begin typing at the insertion point is copied. That includes any paragraph style, character style, and style overrides applied to that text.

Choose Format > Copy Style (from the Format menu at the top of your screen).
Select other text where you want to apply the style, or place the insertion point in text, then choose Format > Paste Style."

Hi MoonJ.,

I didn't have any luck with the directions you suggested--- I think the problem is that I don't need to copy just the style from a particular place in the document, I need the entire document to remain as it is when I paste it into an email. Currently, anything bold, hyperlinks, etc. won't copy.
