Are you running any anti - virus programs? Using a VPN?

Try setting up another admin user account in System Preferences/Users & Groups to see if the same problem continues. Please post back on whether or not this worked. Also try the Safe Mode. Please post back on whether or not this worked.

Safe Mode - About. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201262

If it works in the Safe Mode, try running this program when booted normally and then copy and paste the output in a reply. The program was created by Etresoft, a frequent contributor. Please use copy and paste as screen shots can be hard to read. Click “Share Report” button in the toolbar, select “Copy to Clipboard” and then paste into a reply. This will show what is running on your computer. No personal information is shown. If the log won’t post, try posting it in Pastebin and provide a link in a reply. After pasting the report in a PasteBin page, go to the top of the page, and copy the address in the URL bar. Paste that in a new reply. Pastebin. https://pastebin.com/

iOS, iPadOS or macOS?

Private browsing will not save history.

Visit sites without making history

Tap , then tap Private.

While Private Browsing Mode is on, the Safari background is black instead of white, and sites you visit don’t appear in History on iPhone or in the list of tabs on your other devices.

Mac OS Catalina10.15.3 on MacBook Pro early 2015. Always using public wifi.

I need to create a history as I often need to go back to show previously opened pages.

Yesterday I couldn't clear Safari history or cookie.

Today I can't delete emails. Trashcan is greyed out.

Recently having trouble getting on to public wifi that has "I Agree" Popup. (Hennepin County Library, WestEnd Plaza Guest)

What's going on?

Thanks Eric!!

Sorry so late to reply. Covid-19 closed my free wi-fi spots, I've been silenced.

Back on 3/20/20. I did this:

Don’t have any third party anti-virus programs and don’t use a VPN.  Can’t afford wi-fi can’t afford them.

Set up a new administrator and everything works great!!  Began using the new admin instead of the old.  Switching between them is a bit time consuming, but the fresh start is invigorating.

Since the new admin solves a multitude of issues I haven’t gone on to safe mode.

NOW

After moving some stuff to the new administrator, the old issues have come back. Can't clear history or cookies and can't get private window, all are greyed out.

Will try the other suggestions now that Covid-19 has given me free wifi at home!
