Apple Care Clarity

Greetings. So recently I cracked the back of my iPhone glass, which is an iPhone XS Max. So I research to see if I have any Apple Care coverage to get my phone repaired or possibly replaced. My phone has Apple Care however I am not sure if its the regular Apple Care or the Apple Care +. How can I determine for sure? And if I don't have Apple Care + and just regular Apple Care, how much would it cost to repair or replace my iPhone XS Max?

If you didn’t pay for AppleCare+ when you bought the phone (or within the first 2 months after buying it) you don’t have it. You can check for sure using this Apple support link—>https://selfsolve.apple.com/agreementWarrantyDynamic.do


If it shows that you are covered for 2 years after your purchase date you have AppleCare+.

That is not correct. The 1 year warranty, is just the 1 year warranty. Nowhere does Apple call the 1 year warranty Apple Care. Many people mistakenly call the free 1 year warranty Apple Care, it is not.


Apple Care was the predecessor to Apple Care+, as the Paid for warranty extension.


Apple Care+ is warranty extension you pay for now.

It is misleading to say there is no AppleCare for phone purchases. Apple just changed the name from AppleCare to “1 year warranty”. The coverage is still the same, and if the item was purchased before July 1, 2019 it is still covered by “AppleCare”. And if a battery fails within the 1 year warranty it will still be replaced for free.

No, its misleading to say Apple Care is the same as the Free warranty, it is not, and never has been the same.


Apple Care had a price, just like Apple Care+.


And its not a recent change, the 1 year warranty has always been the one year warranty, and Apple Care has always been the extension you need to pay for. Apple Care has never been free.


Apple Care was replaced by Apple Care+ as the paid for warranty extension.


From the Apple Care terms and conditions: Coverage begins when you purchase the Plan and ends on the date specified in your Plan Confirmation


i.e You need to purchase the plan, it is not the "free" warranty.
