I love using our HomePod as a great speakerphone. My issue is that during a call the volume becomes very quiet all on its own. I must tap the + to bring the volume back to an audible level. It happen s multiple times during a call.
Has anyone else had this issue? I checked for updates but my iOS is 13.3.1 which it says is current.

Have you tried restarting your HomePod?
Unplug HomePod's power lead > Wait 30 seconds > Plug HomePod back in.
Try doing this: don't use the + on the HomePod to increase the volume while on the call. Use your iPhone to increase the volume while on the call (side buttons on your iPhone). The "volume memory" may be retained by using the iPhone and not the HomePod volume.
Some advice that I just posted for another Homepod issue might be useful (see if you can use it to adjust the volume when a call is received):
Siri on the Homepod is gradually gaining more functionality but currently won't control a smart TV. Control of the AppleTV is also limited but you might be able to use Siri Shortcuts for some functions:
