Camera focus issue

I have been having issue lately getting my camera to focus on an entire image when it’s text. Like, I make a list on a sheet of paper and it only focuses on part of it and the bottom is always blurry. I have cleaned the camera, restarted my phone (including a full reset), checked the apps, googled to no avail. Any tips or advise to what I am missing?

Hey lizzy218,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities! I understand you have some questions about your iPhone camera.

I want to share the resource below with you, as it goes over the multiple camera modes. A lot of times different images, and lighting work better with a specific camera mode.

Use camera modes on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

You can also find some great information about camera settings here: Use the camera settings on iPhone

Thanks again, and have a great day!

As suggested above, you likely accidentally change the camera mode from Photo to Portrait. Portrait mode has very shallow field of focus. Please double check.

FYI. If you launch the Notes app, the keyboard has a camera button with an option to Scan Documents. This takes a photo of your document, but also helps you in focusing and framing the document.
