15-inch MacBook Pro Battery Recall

15-inch MacBook Pro Battery Recall Program don’t working.

My battery has 200 charge Cycles out of 1000. The battery swelled and damaged the body my mac.  My serial number is not eligible under this program, Apple refused to carry out repairs for free.

There are many people with this problem. I think apple is waiting for our laptops to catch fire and burn down the house

15-inch MacBook Pro Battery Recall Program. Enter your serial number to find out if your computer is eligible. If it isn't, then take the computer to your local Apple Store and have the battery replaced. If your computer is not eligible, then Apple is not obliged to service the computer under that program. According to Apple the number of computers with this problem is small. Thus, you are exaggerating the truth.

Why would Apple want your computer to catch fire and burn down your house? That is nonsense.

The Battery is not guaranteed to last 1,000 cycles. I am not aware of any Apple document where Apple guarantees the battery to last 1,000 cycles. Under ideal conditions and normal use the expected cycle count is 1,000 cycles for the battery.

Like a mentioned previously a swollen battery is not considered to be a safety issue. The Battery Recall is to address a safety issue where the battery could catch fire.

Please review the Apple article for a free repair program involving swollen batteries:

https://support.apple.com/13inch-macbookpro-battery-replacement

quote from the above link for Apple article on the 13inch-macbookpro-battery-replacement:

a component may fail causing the built-in battery to expand. This is not a safety issue

And compare it to the one for the Battery Recall:

quote from the link for the Battery Recall:

the battery may overheat and pose a fire safety risk.

This is as much help as you will receive on these forums since we are just other users such as yourself. Apple is not here on these forums. If you have complaints you wish to share with Apple, then you can send Apple product feedback using the following link:

Edit: I highly recommend getting an official Apple repair since the Apple batteries really are the best ones out there. I know this first hand from years of experience. The quality of third party Lithium-ion batteries is extremely poor even when purchased from reputable vendors. If a company with resources like Apple has all these issues with Lithium-ion batteries, then consider how much worse third party batteries will be which are made to be sold cheaply.

Also I've seen multiple posts on these forums where Apple has refused to repair a laptop after a user has had a third party battery installed in a MBPro Retina.

The Battery Recall is for a fire safety issue and NOT a swollen battery. Apple has other free repair programs to deal with swollen batteries, but those programs are usually only valid three years from date of purchase. The Battery Recall program is not a typical free Apple repair program since it deals with a safety issue. While I know a swollen battery is scary, annoying, and inconvenient Apple doesn't normally consider it a safety issue.

Since you have a 4+ year old laptop I am not aware of any Apple free repair program that would still be valid for your laptop. You will need to pay to have the battery replaced.

Edit: I should add that there are many different types of battery failures. The failure which causes a battery to swell is completely different than the failure which causes a battery to catch fire.
