After update from 10.15.3 to 10.15.4 external displays doesn't work via docking station

I have two macbooks pro (2017 and 2018). I installed update of MacOS Catalina today to 10.15.4 and my DisplayLink D6000 docking station doesn't work from this point. I installed beta drivers of display link from a customer, but it didn't help. So, the only option is to connect displays via the apple adapter and hdmi, which is weird because you need 2 for 2 external monitors.

I found a workaround, and I'm now able to use docking station charging my Mac and extend monitors to three

How is what I did:

  1. Disconnect all cables to docking station and power it off for one minute.
  2. Uninstall Displaylink driver on my Mac, and restart Mac per onscreen instruction.
  3. Power Off Mac, not restart.
  4. Wait for 30-sec, and start the Mac.
  5. Download and install Displaylink driver 5.21 from https://www.displaylink.com/downloads/file?id=1478, and restart Mac per onscreen instruction.
  6. Power on Mac. Login Mac.
  7. Connect monitor and power cables to docking station.
  8. Connect Thunderbolt cable from docking station to Mac.

In my case I don't have the original power brick, I lost it a long time ago.

Instead I have 2 ways to charge my MBP:

  • Hyper Juice 80W model (stop work after 10.15.4 update);
    1. USB-C to USB-C PD protocol have a 60W out, and my MBP don't recognise at all the connection. But works in other devices including a MB 2019 with macOS 10.15.3.
    2. USB-A to USB-C with 20W out, still works.

  • Xiaomi Mi USB-C Charger 65W (still work after 10.15.4 update);

I can't use my Lenovo Thunderbolt 3 gen 2 dock after the upgrade to 10.15.4 Prior to the upgrade it worked without the need for any drivers. I've tried to install the latest one ( v 5.2.1)from DisplayLink, as well as the beta driver (r 0.5) but nothing happens. I also followed the procedure about setting the screen recording permission in the system Preferences, but nothing works... must be an error in the 10.15.4 code. Hope Apple fixes it ASAP

I JUST HEARD BACK FROM DISPLAY LINK! I'm doing this for D6000. Hopefully if you contact them also, they'll have an update for your Dock! Here's their response for the D6000:

We have verified that upgrading firmware in your docking station D6000 resolves this problem.

This upgrade can be unfortunately done only on a windows machine.

1. Download it from here: https://www.dell.com/support/home/uk/en/ukdhs1/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=t8y8t&oscode=wt64a&productcode=dell-universal-dock-d6000&lwp=rt

2. Install it on a windows machine with a connected dock

3. Connect your dock back to your Macbook

It may be also requested to restart your computers so please follow the instructions within the D6000 upgrade.

Thank you for checking the above and letting me know if the issue has been resolved.

One last item for you Dell D6000 users; there are apparently no drivers for Macs, see attached. Though you may have been lucky that these worked with Macs initially, it doesn't appear Dell ever supported their use with Macs. I am not surprised. It hardly makes sense to complain to Apple. Call Dell and ask them if they plan to fix the problem, or if they even can.

I just discovered that when

a) I switch sides of the port to connect my dock, display port monitor would fail, and everything connected to Caldigit TS3.

b) Turns out I have to unplug my NAS connected to Dock on Thunderbolt 3 as a DAS. Then only plug in Ts3 Dock with my everything else except the DAS/NAS.

c) Monitor and all devices just works. Then only I start to plug in Thunderbolt 3, DAS.
