Hi there Carrob7,

I saw your post about the language selection issue you're seeing on your Mac, and I'll be happy to see if I can help. The Dictionary app is a great tool.

To verify, you're able to check the boxes next to the Italian and Italian-English dictionaries, but they don't seem to find anything. Is that right?

Which exact macOS version are you using under Apple menu () > About This Mac?

Does it help if you click Apple menu () > Restart and test it again?

If not, try booting your Mac into safe mode to test again: How to use safe mode on your Mac. Once in safe mode, see how it works, and then restart to get back to normal mode.

I also recommend creating a temporary administrator account, and then testing for the same behavior there. This will help to determine if you have a system-wide or user account-specific issue: How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac

Feel free to reply back with the results of those tests!

Kindest regards.

Thanks Joseph! I see a new system update, 10.15.4. After the update Dictionary App work perfectly.

I have another question. In my previously Mac, a MacBook Air 2014, I can use dictionary on words in Microsoft Word with a pressure of 3 fingers on the touchpad. In my new MacBook Pro 13 I active Dictionary with a click on touchpad with much pressure, but it don't work in Microsoft Word.

How can I resolve it?

Thanks you

Hello Carrob7,

Glad to hear your Dictionary app is working after the macOS update!

For your other Dictionary question, you should be able to turn that gesture on with this resource: Change Trackpad preferences on Mac

"On your Mac, use Trackpad System Preferences to change how your trackpad works. For example, you can change how fast the onscreen pointer moves when you move your finger across the trackpad and customize the gestures you use with your trackpad.

To change these preferences, choose Apple menu  > System Preferences, then click Trackpad."

Based on the article, it sounds like you'll want to enable the Lookup gesture.

Take care.

I resolve it. Yes, I want enable Lookup on Word. In another app, like safari, work well, but not on Word. If I want enable it on Word I must select three finger touch, with the force touch don't work. I can also continue to use force touch on safari for lookup gesture. I can only use this solution.

Thanks a lot for the answer.
