I am getting ready to purchase the new iPad Pro 4th edition. I also plan to purchase the Magic keyboard when it becomes available. I am not sure how the new Magic keyboard will function. Do you get a second cover to put the device when it's not attached to the keyboard (eg. kids are using it to watch a movie)? Or does the keyboard detach from the back of the cover so that the device is protected when not in use with the keyboard? Thank you in advance

Magic Keyboard does not come with a second cover. iPad will magnetically adhere to the Magic Keyboard which will protect the back of the iPad and the front (when the keyboard is folded up). They keyboard is not detachable.

The keyboard will not fold behind the iPad. You could also purchase an iPad Smart Cover which would let you prop the iPad up without the keyboard.
