New ID - Application Stops Working

Recently signed my MacBook over to my Apple ID from my parent's Apple ID.

Since then, the books application has stopped responding. It won't open or load.


Is there any way that these two are correlated? I have updated the operating system and software to the most recent versions. Re-starting the app doesn't do anything.
