I have a 2012 MacBook Pro, after updating to Catalina, I can't use the camera for any app. After going through the community posts and trying the resolutions, the camera is still showing as unavailable.
I used the 'sudo killall VDCAssistant" command in the terminal and a "no matching processes were found" was returned.
How can I resolve a missing VDC Assistant issue?

Hi, I have exactly the same problem, actually it started coming up after i have installed Zoom for videocalling. After two or three times that it worked, suddenly "no camera found". Same problem with vdcassistant and also "no issues found" in diagnostic.
Anyone who can help?
It’s definitely a software issue. When you boot in safe mode the camera works just fine. However when you boot regular cam is all of a sudden not found.
Thats the only work around I see.
Try sudo killall AppleCameraAssistant in Terminal. That just worked for me having tried everything suggested above.
What about Apple support? A lot of owners of Apple Computers with same problem, whithout a solution.... and nothing?
Zoom was exactly how my camera stopped working! Ever since my first video chat, which was unsuccessful, it has not came back on. Keep getting the same error.
I am guessing that nobody has had any help with this? I've just noticed the exact same problem with my iMac
Apple replaced my 2020 iMac.
