iPhone storage almost EMPTY but iCloud storage FULL so I cannot take any more photos????

I cannot save any more photos or apps to my device because my iCloud storage is full..? But when I check my iPhone storage it is less than half full! I have payed for 32 GB storage but my phone is only letting me use a small amount of it because of iCloud...???? Bizarre. Please can somebody help me out with this as it is not clear at all what I should do. I want to be able to take more photos and download more apps but it seems that iCloud is hindering me from doing so. I don't want to lose any of my photos or apps. Perhaps I need to delete iCloud? I'm SO confused. I don't understand why it says i have 32GB of storage when I can't even use it. Might get a Google phone next to avoid this problem in future ha!

iPhone 6s, iOS 11

Hello KristinaRosa,

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities. Being able to take photos is important, and I understand you're unable to because of low storage. I have some information for you that might be helpful.

It sounds like you see an alert that your iCloud storage is full. Your iPhone and iCloud storage are two separate types of storage, so your best start is to check Settings > [name] > iCloud > Manage Storage. That's where you'll be able to see how much storage is being used in iCloud rather than your internal device storage. This link has more information about how you can Manage your iCloud storage.

I hope this helps you! If you have any follow-up questions, don't hesitate to reply back here.

Take care.
