ios 13.4 lock/power button and assistive touch issue

Has anyone had their lock/power button not work at times after this update? i.e. unable to lock the phone at all. And when this happens, assistive touch will not work neither. I've had to force restart the phone each time.

I had a really helpful response from this forum, basically when my lock button stops working, I just press the volume up and down buttons a couple of times and it rights itself! It's still super annoying that it happens, but at least I don't have to power down the phone or not be able to lock it myself.


I can't remember the user who gave me the suggestion, but he's a genius!

I also have same issue, after updating to 13.4 my iPhone ProMax Power/Lock Button has some issues, It does work for screenshots, to turn my iPhone power off But when I want to put my iPhone on standby which all mobile users do, the button doesn't respond sometimes. Than I take screenshot and it starts working properly.


I hope Apple soon come out with a new update to solve this issue/bug.

Thank you. iPhone 11 Pro and occasionally side button just stops functioning to lock the screen. It does, however work in conjunction with volume up to pull up the power off slider etc, so i know it is physically working. I went through the wringer with Apple support, their last suggestion was to reset the phone to factory and NOT restore from backup. Instead to load everything back on manually. Which i did. And, yes, it was fine for a long time... but now it has happened again several times. Forcing the phone to restart fixes it for awhile, but it seems to increase in frequency.. maybe once a day now. I was on the verge of going back to support and demanding a new phone while still under warranty.. But it looks like, as suspected, this is a bug. Was hoping it got fixed in 13.4.1. We shall see. Just glad to know i'm not crazy. Apple? Please figure out this bug?

I'm now on 13.5.1 and have exactly the same issue - the lock button doesn't work after taking a screenshot. Sometimes it rights itself, other time, I have to power down the phone and restart. It's very frustrating.


Spoke to Apple chat, they suggested wiping the phone, which I did, however, the same problem occurred even before I'd reinstalled it from a backup.


Now I have to take the phone in to the Apple store. Really not happy as I've had the phone less than a month and I'm guessing they'll want to keep it for a few days and I'll be left phoneless!


The support via chat was pretty useless, they didn't really add anything that I hadn't already tried and I managed to encrypt my backup with an unknown password (my fault!) so I lost about 3 weeks of data into the bargain.
