ios 13.4 lock/power button and assistive touch issue

I spoke with Apple Support, and they said to go to Settings -> General -> Shut Down. After it shuts down, then restart the phone again. That made AssitiveTouch start working again for me.

I had a really helpful response from this forum, basically when my lock button stops working, I just press the volume up and down buttons a couple of times and it rights itself! It's still super annoying that it happens, but at least I don't have to power down the phone or not be able to lock it myself.

I can't remember the user who gave me the suggestion, but he's a genius!

It seems to be an issue with many iphone 11's- I already had my phone replaced and it happened as soon as I got home with my new phone- so I wouldn't bank on replacing the phone to fix the issue. Right now the volume button trick works for me. Hopefully they can make an update that resolves the issue.

Same for me. Go to Settings / General, scroll down to Turn Off. Do so. When I turned back on both issues were resolved.

Have you tried shutting down vis Settings? Then open using side button. Worked for my iphone. Everything came back including assistive touch.

I tried turning off from Settings/General scroll down to bottom. Turn off. Once I’d done that just the one time it fixed multiple issues.

No don’t go to Apple centre. Apple people don’t accept that it’s the issue with their iOS. Upgrade the phone to iOS13.6 BETA version. Then if you face the same issue just press any volume button and then this problem will go away. Mine is working Ok now. To me also they had told to go to Apple centre but I tried this way and it helped

delete assistive touch. shut down via general. open. re install assistive touch.

I also have same issue, after updating to 13.4 my iPhone ProMax Power/Lock Button has some issues, It does work for screenshots, to turn my iPhone power off But when I want to put my iPhone on standby which all mobile users do, the button doesn't respond sometimes. Than I take screenshot and it starts working properly.

I hope Apple soon come out with a new update to solve this issue/bug.

Thank you. iPhone 11 Pro and occasionally side button just stops functioning to lock the screen. It does, however work in conjunction with volume up to pull up the power off slider etc, so i know it is physically working. I went through the wringer with Apple support, their last suggestion was to reset the phone to factory and NOT restore from backup. Instead to load everything back on manually. Which i did. And, yes, it was fine for a long time... but now it has happened again several times. Forcing the phone to restart fixes it for awhile, but it seems to increase in frequency.. maybe once a day now. I was on the verge of going back to support and demanding a new phone while still under warranty.. But it looks like, as suspected, this is a bug. Was hoping it got fixed in 13.4.1. We shall see. Just glad to know i'm not crazy. Apple? Please figure out this bug?

Hi I am also having the same issue with my iPhone Xr. Looks like it’s a bug in the iOS. Started recently when I updated to iOS 13.4.1. Sometimes without restarting the phone also after using some apps and some calls it becomes ok which means that either the phone is hanging or some app in the background is getting stuck

I've had this problem since I got my iPhone 11 (with all versions of the iOS). The only solution I found was "restarting" the device. It will start working again, but will eventually not work and I'll have to restart again. Hoping this is fix with iPhone 12 pro.

brand new iphone xs. same problem occurred with 13.4 update. After pressing volume up + down and power button together i can close the screen. but the problem occurring later again.

I did turn off raise to wake, but it still happens :/ However the turning the volume up and down solution works! If it will not lock I simply turn the volume up and down and it works!

I'm now on 13.5.1 and have exactly the same issue - the lock button doesn't work after taking a screenshot. Sometimes it rights itself, other time, I have to power down the phone and restart. It's very frustrating.

Spoke to Apple chat, they suggested wiping the phone, which I did, however, the same problem occurred even before I'd reinstalled it from a backup.

Now I have to take the phone in to the Apple store. Really not happy as I've had the phone less than a month and I'm guessing they'll want to keep it for a few days and I'll be left phoneless!

The support via chat was pretty useless, they didn't really add anything that I hadn't already tried and I managed to encrypt my backup with an unknown password (my fault!) so I lost about 3 weeks of data into the bargain.
