Linking i-pad to Microsoft account

I have an I-pad that has historically been happily associated with my MS 365 account.

I recently had to change my e-mail address & the I-pad has lost the association. Can’t use speaker note in .ppt etc.

I’m being offered the option of taking out a new subscription & on attempting to ‘Restore Previous Purchase’, it say Not subscription associated with this device’

Hmm...

Microsoft chat unable to help, referred me to accounts who are uncontactable.

Any thoughts?

Any App/subscription purchases made against your previous AppleID account are (and remain) associated with it.

If you created a new AppleID account after changing your email address, then your Office 365 Subscription will likely be associated with your former AppleID account. App and subscription purchases are not transferable between AppleID accounts.

If you needed to change the AppleID primary email address, as used to login to your AppleID, you should have updated your AppleID account with your new email address - thus preserving any Apps and Subscriptions.

However, If you instead chose to create and use a new AppleID account using your new email address, any previous App and Subscription purchases made against your previous AppleID account are now not available to you - as they are still associated with an account that you are no longer using.

Here are two Support Articles that describe essential steps that you should follow when changing the primary email address associated with your AppleID account:

I hope you find this helpful is both understanding your likely issue - and, if my analysis is correct, the steps necessary to resolve the problem.

Hopefully, you have only changed the email address associated with your [original] AppleID account. If nothing else, I hope this will allow you to exclude the possibility of having created a new account as the possible cause.

You should be able to easily verify this possibility by attempting log-in, using a web browser, here:

https://appleid.apple.com

If you can login using both your old and new email addresses, then you likely have two AppleID accounts - and a problem. If by contrast you can only login using your new email address (and not your old account), then you are likely to have successfully changed the primary address associated with you one (wanted) AppleID account.

Hope this helps with the investigation.
