Apple Pencil not workin

I just recently got an iPad Air, and ordered an Apple Pencil (1st generation) to go along with it. I was able to successfully pair the pencil, however it does not work. It is fully charged with a brand new tip, and I have tried everything from restarting my iPad to forgetting the device and unpairing and repairing the pencil on Bluetooth and it still won’t work.

Also, which generation of iPad Air do you own? Only Air 3 (2019) supports Apple Pencil, Air 2 or original Air do not support even the first generation Apple Pencil.

If Apple Pencil’s battery sits depleted for an extended amount of time then it will essentially ruin the battery preventing it from ever holding a charge which makes the Apple Pencil useless. Apple Pencil has a 1 year warranty (when purchased from Apple) which means that Apple will most likely replace it if the battery has failed.
