Using iPhone as camera for Macbook Air

Hi, I'm trying to use my iPhone as the camera when using Quicktime on my Macbook Air. I have it plugged into my Macbook currently. When I open Quicktime, then "Select New Movie Recording," my iPhone does not show up as an optional camera on the drop down near the record button. Any suggestions? Thank you!

Hey there ktbsbll,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. I understand you’re having issues using Continuity Camera on your Mac. I’ll be happy to help with this.

‘You can use Continuity Camera on your Mac in these apps:

  • Finder
  • Keynote 8.2 or later
  • Mail
  • Messages
  • Notes
  • Numbers 5.2 or later
  • Pages 7.2 or later
  • TextEdit’

QuickTime is not in this list so you won’t be able to use it with your iPhone camera. Try using it with one of the supported apps and see if it works as expected. You can read more about this here:

Regards.
