Safari 13.1 will not load specific pages. HELP!!

I have a Mac Pro (early 2009) and running High Sierra 10.13.6.. Just today SAFARI 13.1 started to give me lots of problems. Many pages on the web just won't load. The error message says "the page was reloaded because an error occurred)

this is what I get when trying to load a page on ebay.

I have deleted cache, turned off extensions etc.. Nothing works.

Can anyone help??

Mac Pro, macOS 10.13

Have tried everything. Chatted with Apple but they didn't suggest anything that I had not already tried.

What did get me a working version of Safari was I reinstalled High Sierra OS. I don't have this problem with other Macs I have two on Catalina, two on High Sierra, one on Sierra and one on Mojave.

Not sure why this one iMac decided to not work correctly with Safari 13.1, but after HS installed Safari 11, everything was okay. I confirmed that it was the update to Safari 13.1 by allowing the update to go through and once again had the same issue. Resolved it for the moment by reinstalling HS OS and blocking Safari 13.1 update.

Websites like bankofamerica.com chase.com bestbuy.com (when signing into acct) most sites that require a login with password, cause the spontaneous reloading and eventual error.

For those of you that want to keep troubleshooting Safari 13.1, I found that if you "block all cookies" under SAFARI>PREFERENCES >PRIVACY, it will let you load the offending webpages but because of cookies being blocked you can not sign into them.

This started happening to me. Upgraded to High Sierra and Safari 13.1 and multiple sites I visit won't load (CNN, Wells Fargo, Chase Bank, etc.). The past few days I've followed the advice of several "high level" Apple Community experts with obvious suggestions (delete cookies, install Java, re-install Safari, safe mode, etc.) and some questionable ones involving Terminal commands. Already starting switch to doing most of my web browsing on Firefox and Chrome for the time being, but may be a permanent switch if this isn't fixed.

I think it’s self-evident at this point that the big either lies with the security update or 13.1. Reinstalling OS seems like overkill, especially since it has mixed results—using an older version of safari can expose certain security flaws, I’m sure. Should we all just go through the service process, accumulate case numbers and hope it’s addressed? I think there’s enough of us experiencing the exact same issue that any sort of malware can we counted out.

I felt the same way, even though HS is what I run on this Mac. Didn't take very long to reinstall HS. It certainly is not an answer to this problem anymore than using Chrome, Firefox or some other browser.

Apple does need to fix it. I have an open case and I see that others on this thread do as well.

I will be trying an update to Mojave from HS to see if that allows me to run Safari 13.1 without the issue.

Maybe we can all figure out a common denominator to our issue. Everything was working fine until the 13.1 update which was on 3/24/2020. That is also the day that my Fusion drive crashed. Coincidence and unrelated? Maybe or maybe not.

I finally reinstalled the system software 10.13.6 High Sierra from Apple. It has the working version of Safari included. I did want to install the latest security update, but that now includes the Safari 13.1 update. Knowing that, I will not install the security update package. Does anyone have a link to the stand alone security update?

This bug in Safari 13.1 Has turned my smooth workflow experience on its head, especially on the ability of Safari to memorize passwords.

Apple, if your listening, you always have been a group of talented folks. It surely can’t be that difficult to fix this issue causing so many people so much trouble.

So the consensus is anyone who is running Mac OS 10.13.6 (High Sierra) and has recently installed the most recent "Security Update" are having this same problem. That is... pages not loading properly in Safari.

I am actually using GOOGLE CHROME to write this message on the Apple website. I would much rather use SAFARI, however until APPLE fixes this problem, all of us are forced to use GOOGLE CHROME or FIREFOX.

Hi, I just updated this morning to version 10.13.6, and got the same issue (for example: BBC.com). It is very annoying, had to open Chrome to get normal access. I got in touch with costumer support online; it appears that the new version is giving many people this same problem, felt kinda relieved as I thought I would have been a virus. Any ways, please solve this issue ASAP.

I am having the same issue. IMac 2016, updated to new 13.1. If I turn off the cookies it will load the page. But in order to interact with the page I need to go turn on cookies. It only tries to reload certain pages and eventually can't load it after a few automatic tries. I have switched to Chrome and Firefox but miss my Safari. Please help.

I totally agree! Have been using Apple products since the II+. Exclusively since 2008.

I can’t ignore how much has changed though in the last 2 to 3 years. Nor can I ignore that each rep that I have chatted with was positive that updating to Catalina will solve the issue. I know this to not be true because I did update to Catalina and I still have the problem on this one machine. While all my other machines with different OS from Sierra to Catalina are not afflicted.

Correct that works at least for now, since it rolls Safari back to 11.1.2, some here have expressed concern that an older Safari version and lack of the latest security "updates" will leave them vulnerable. Others feel it is too much trouble and overkill.

I did the same with command R, worked for me (although this is just a temporary workaround), was quick compared to all the time I wasted trying the various "fixes" found on the web, which none of them worked.

Thank you for your input. What Apple needs to do is recognize this issue and patch it. The last genius that I chatted with yesterday, told me a PRAM and SMC reset would fix it 🙄.
