Safari 13.1 will not load specific pages. HELP!!

I have a Mac Pro (early 2009) and running High Sierra 10.13.6.. Just today SAFARI 13.1 started to give me lots of problems. Many pages on the web just won't load. The error message says "the page was reloaded because an error occurred)

this is what I get when trying to load a page on ebay.

I have deleted cache, turned off extensions etc.. Nothing works.

Can anyone help??

Mac Pro, macOS 10.13

Have tried everything. Chatted with Apple but they didn't suggest anything that I had not already tried.

What did get me a working version of Safari was I reinstalled High Sierra OS. I don't have this problem with other Macs I have two on Catalina, two on High Sierra, one on Sierra and one on Mojave.

Not sure why this one iMac decided to not work correctly with Safari 13.1, but after HS installed Safari 11, everything was okay. I confirmed that it was the update to Safari 13.1 by allowing the update to go through and once again had the same issue. Resolved it for the moment by reinstalling HS OS and blocking Safari 13.1 update.

running a late 21013 27-inch imac with high sierra 10.13.6 os. when i solved my safari problem 2 days ago, i was so frustrated, i began the process of setting up all new bookmarks on firefox. what a pain.

then i saw this thread in my email. i almost didn't read it. after several unsuccessful attempts with different startup procedures using different combinations of keys, etc., i read 7 of the 8 pages of responses in their entirety before i found one that i had enough time to try: reinstall the safari update. it worked. so simple, but i never thought of it because the update was almost brand new. since there were no further upgrades indicated under "software update," i assumed (perhaps incorrectly) i had the most recent version.

problem solved. until someone proves me wrong, i have to think apple simply didn't respond to this thread, or even to its own geniuses, who, in my experience, seem to know almost everything. all's well now with my safari 13.1 (13609.1.20.111.8). apple9055 - that looks like the same version you're trying to run without success, so perhaps it was patched without changing the version number? don't know... just happy it worked. hope it works for all of you!

Since the majority of the "fixes" posted were just best guess and experimental. I waited a couple of weeks and just used Safari 11.

Today I allowed the app store to upgrade to Safari 13.1, worked and all the banking, shopping and any website that required a password, loaded and worked correctly. I then upgraded to the latest security fix suite. Everything is working fine.

I did not have to delete or clear any histories, passwords, caches or uninstall Java.

I suggest some of you try it, if you would like to be running the latest version of Safari with latest security updates.

Hi, I just updated this morning to version 10.13.6, and got the same issue (for example: BBC.com). It is very annoying, had to open Chrome to get normal access. I got in touch with costumer support online; it appears that the new version is giving many people this same problem, felt kinda relieved as I thought I would have been a virus. Any ways, please solve this issue ASAP.

Correct that works at least for now, since it rolls Safari back to 11.1.2, some here have expressed concern that an older Safari version and lack of the latest security "updates" will leave them vulnerable. Others feel it is too much trouble and overkill.

I did the same with command R, worked for me (although this is just a temporary workaround), was quick compared to all the time I wasted trying the various "fixes" found on the web, which none of them worked.

Thank you for your input. What Apple needs to do is recognize this issue and patch it. The last genius that I chatted with yesterday, told me a PRAM and SMC reset would fix it 🙄.

I experienced this same issue when Safari upgraded to 13.1, after I had installed High Sierra on my MacPro (mid 2010); the pages that will not load are all related to online banking (Barclays) or online purchases (eg Marks & Spencer), everything works fine until you get to the actual financial transaction.

Would this suggest that Safari no longer recognises the security certificates of these sites?

I reinstalled High Sierra and the latest Security Update 2020-002, but have avoided the Safari update and continue to run Safari 11.1.2, which works without problems.

I hope Apple will address this problem soon.

As I posted earlier, I also reinstalled High Sierra in recovery mode and then allowed the Security Update 2020-002 to install; Safari remains at 11.1.2 and all pages load without difficulty, including financial transactions.

I am reluctant to update Safari, in case the same problems re-occur, unless Apple can reassure me that the glitch has been fixed.

I think it’s self-evident at this point that the big either lies with the security update or 13.1. Reinstalling OS seems like overkill, especially since it has mixed results—using an older version of safari can expose certain security flaws, I’m sure. Should we all just go through the service process, accumulate case numbers and hope it’s addressed? I think there’s enough of us experiencing the exact same issue that any sort of malware can we counted out.
