Safari 13.1 will not load specific pages. HELP!!

I have a Mac Pro (early 2009) and running High Sierra 10.13.6.. Just today SAFARI 13.1 started to give me lots of problems. Many pages on the web just won't load. The error message says "the page was reloaded because an error occurred)

this is what I get when trying to load a page on ebay.

I have deleted cache, turned off extensions etc.. Nothing works.

Can anyone help??

Mac Pro, macOS 10.13

It seems like most of the folks here use High Sierra, so they are reloading the entire HS OS, which includes Safari 11. In my case, I am on Mojave (10.14.6). I did find a link to an Apple Mojave Safari download, so I downloaded it, quit Safari, installed it, and... nothing, it just took me back to my same Safari 13.1, that's showing all these annoying page load bugs. Would really appreciate some help on how to reinstall just Safari into Mojave. Or should I bite the bullet and upgrade to Catalina?

Hi and thanks for your helpful reply.

Unfortunately, that is what I did at the start of this process: downloaded High Sierra OS from the App Store; installed that as per all instructions (checked drive with Disk Utility first); then after the OS install was complete, I allowed the App Store to install the latest Security Update 2020-002 and Safari 13.1; then all the problems with certain websites involving financial transactions began.

I reinstalled the OS from recovery, which took me back to Safari 11; then did the Security Update 2020-002 and all is working normally.

I am reluctant to try and update Safari again, without some reassurance that the same problems with financial websites won't occur again; it's time consuming having to reinstall the OS every time there's a glitch.

This has been happening to me on a 12 core Mac Pro with 128 GB of Ram running Mojave 10.14.6. Obviously the fault is with Safari 13.1

It gets worse every day, and I am relying more and more on Chrome.

I suppose I could use the hack that's out there to run Catalina, but I have been very happy with Mojave, which still lets me run 32 bit apps that no longer have developers to update them.

Somebody at Apple needs to address this issue.

Me too, running Mojave 10.14.6 and Safari 13.1 (14609.1.20.111.8).

I've been having the SAME issues since Safari updated itself about 5 weeks ago... until recently... the problems are gone!

As of a couple of days ago, I have not had the need to use Firefox. My bank is loading ok, CNN loads ok, any other problematic pages are loading ok.

AFAIK, I haven't downloaded any patches (I don't have the OS self-updating, as I'm not yet interested in going to Catalina), but clearly this didn't fix itself.

So. Weird.

I am a long time Apple user and reader of these forums but rarely post. After reading many forums and threads and being stumped by the Safari 13.1 javascript error for nearly a month, I just wanted to say thanks for this carsten75. It worked for me on High Sierra and the troubled websites are now working again.. I was just about to do the OS reinstall as many have recommended but am glad I had one more search for topics on this. The Safari reinstall from Apple on the link you posted (it's on page1 of the thread) installed just fine and I can now cross this off my tech fix to-do list. Thanks again.

running a late 21013 27-inch imac with high sierra 10.13.6 os. when i solved my safari problem 2 days ago, i was so frustrated, i began the process of setting up all new bookmarks on firefox. what a pain.

then i saw this thread in my email. i almost didn't read it. after several unsuccessful attempts with different startup procedures using different combinations of keys, etc., i read 7 of the 8 pages of responses in their entirety before i found one that i had enough time to try: reinstall the safari update. it worked. so simple, but i never thought of it because the update was almost brand new. since there were no further upgrades indicated under "software update," i assumed (perhaps incorrectly) i had the most recent version.

problem solved. until someone proves me wrong, i have to think apple simply didn't respond to this thread, or even to its own geniuses, who, in my experience, seem to know almost everything. all's well now with my safari 13.1 (13609.1.20.111.8). apple9055 - that looks like the same version you're trying to run without success, so perhaps it was patched without changing the version number? don't know... just happy it worked. hope it works for all of you!

today I finally took the plunge and installed the Safari 13.1 update recommended in earlier posts (Safari13.1HighSierraAuto.pkg) ... so far, all the websites that previously were stalling now load without difficulty and I'm hopeful this has solved the problem.

still slightly puzzled why this installer update should be more reliable than the one from the App Store which I downloaded at the start of all this?
