Wear on keys Macbook Pro 15,1

I'm having my MacBook Pro 15,1 (15-inch, 2018) since January this year and already i am seeing wear on my keys. See attached image. You can see wear on the Shift key and the A key where the light of the backlight is shining through the keys. I have several more keys where this is happening, just not this bad (yet).

This was a $4000 laptop.... How can this happen this quick?

These key caps are especially thin. Is it possible your fingernails could be rubbing the key caps and scratching off the finish?

You can take the laptop to an Apple Store or an Apple Authorized Service Provider (if any are open in your region) to be examined to see if they can replace those key caps for you.

I've seen it on some laptops I've repaired over the years. Sometimes I see scratches on the key caps that suggest fingernails. Other times I think it is just from lots of use and rubbing off the coating. I agree it is disappointing to see worn key caps. Once things settle down you can get a quote for replacing those worn key caps.
