Hi,
Recently my wide angle camera function stopped working and when I open the camera app it automatically pops into 2x and only allows me to zoom out to 1x but not. .5(screen shots below), all options work on video. I’ve updated to latest iOS, restarted phone, closed and reopened camera still know luck. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated, I use the wide angle for work all the time.

I had this issue. No amount of reset/restoring fixed it. I chatted with apple tech support online. They ran a remote diagnostic. They confirmed there was something wrong. They scheduled an appointment for me at my local Best Buy. The tech there ran the same diagnostic test again... "CAMERA ISSUE REAR CAMERA WIDE ANGLE LENS NOT FUNCTIONING, IS NOT DETECTED IN MRI." The fix was a rear camera replacement, which Best Buy had in stock. It took about 45 minutes. It cost $109. I'm disappointed the camera stopped working after less than 2 years of gentle ownership. However, I am grateful that I did not have to mail the phone in. If reset/restore does not work for you, you will need to get your rear camera replaced. There is no other fix if your camera is not detected. Good luck!
I have this problem too! They actually sent me a replacement phone. I wiped my old phone after backing it up.
Restored backup on new phone...and same problem. no ".5" ultra wide lens in video and photo.

Apple, you broke my phone with your last update. Fix it and actually do a little testing before you release this garbage. Come on... please help.
Didn’t work for me either, however my wide angle sort of works now but the 2x freezes and portrait mode is non existent. Also the auto balance feature on camera mode doesn’t work so I have to flick from video to get the lighting right then back to photo. Come on apple give us an update would ya
Okay this issue has been here for a while and they don’t care clearly cause it’s only a few of us with the problem this is why I’m switching to Samsung nothing like taking you money and flushing it down the toilet
Well great now I only have 4 options witch is time laps photo portrait and pano Apple you suck. fix it ASAP or I’m switching to Samsung because they don’t lie about there phones and it’s probably worth the money
This didn't work for me. I installed the iOS 13.5 Beta and still cannot use the wide angle 0.5x in PHOTO mode, and PORTRAIT does not work. Background does not get blurred and even the light filters in PORTRAIT mode are not working. When I switch to a filter everything remains the same.
Just talked to Apple again. They are sending me a replacement phone but based on what I'm reading here it probably won't fix the issue. I told the apple support guy about this thread and how I didn't think this would solve the main problem, and he said I shouldn't take any advice from you guys and just listen to the professionals instead 😂
Did you have to pay for the price of the phone to get a replacement?! Apple told me that I could put the $ of the phone for a hold until I sent the old one back. Seemed pretty stupid to me. So I’m waiting until the Apple store opens so they just replace it with a brand new one bc I’m still under warranty
They said the same to me and I'm doing that. So I have the price of the phone on hold on my credit card and when I send my phone back they will cancel the hold. I am under warranty, but don't have apple care so had to pay $30 shipping. I would have done the same as you but don't live anywhere near an Apple store, and my work is on my phone so I can't not have it for a few days.
No I didn't. I simply took my broken phone and they kept it to send to the Apple certified technician. Currently I do not have the phone. It's with the service provider. They do not have the phone in stock so I have to wait until they receive the stock from Apple and then they will give me the replacement. I am dealing with an authorised Apple Service Provider since there is no Apple store in my country.
So I did this and backed my phone up to the computer and when I erased all content and set up as new, my camera was still messed up. My portrait camera is totally not working at all either. so I’m at a loss. 😕 I’m in the Seattle area and I’m not sure when our store is going to open sadly

taking so long to fix such an obvious issue and a key feature of 11 pro, might as well be using an 11 or se! We should be compensated in apple credits for this mess and having had to buy additional software ! This is unacceptable Apple!!!!!
I have the same problem! Worked perfect until Febru. Wide angle doesn’t work, portrait doesn’t work (but portrait does work on the front camera) and also very annoying that when I open the camera app it always starts on 2x. Seeing so many people here having this issue it’s maddening. This is a $1200 phone and apple does not want to even acknowledge it so that they can pretend the phone has no issues. It’s ridiculous.
Has anyone figured out a fix for this? I’ve factory wiped, reset all settings, even deleted the iCloud backups like suggested then restarted but nothing worked. I can’t even select 0.5 in photo mode and the portrait mode doesn’t work on the rear cameras.
How is “new iPhone (not signing in with Apple iCloud and no backup) not working?
It doesn’t work out of the box? Or even signing in to your Apple ID, breaks the camera?
If so, then this is really one **** of a bug, related to the Apple ID. 😱
