Imac does not recognise Samsung galaxy S9 edge- want to transfer photos from phone to imac

Do I need a special app to be able to transfer photos from Samsung phone to iMac?

IT novice so need clear instructions!

Did you try these instructions?

Connect the Android device to the Mac with a USB cable
Launch “Image Capture”, which is found in the /Applications/ folder (or you can use Spotlight to launch it)
Select the Android phone under the ‘Devices’ list on the left side of Image Capture
Optionally but recommended, select a destination folder for the photos
Click the “Import All” button to transfer all pictures on the device to the Mac

No sadly not! 😢

I have downloaded Android File Transfer but when I attach my phone to iMac I get message to say no android device found OR occasionally it seems to recognise my phone BUT shows no pictures!! I have screen-print as below.

I have seen, I think, that if you have apps Kies or Smart Switch Mac downloaded Android File Transfer will not work. I don't think I have!!

@BDAqua

Hi finally got Android File trf to recognise my phone -see attached - it only shows the pics by file name, it does NOT show the actual pic. Is this usual?
