Mac for student and programmer

what is the best mac for student and programmer I do not care about mobility because I have an iPad with a keyboard I usually sit at a desk and program or use fb. I have an eye on the macbook pro with tb and buy a monitor, mouse and keyboard or purchase an imac 27. thank you for all the answers
