Select the message, then

  • Edit > Delete, or
  • click Mail's Trash icon, or
  • press the Delete key, or
  • drag it to the Finder's Trash icon

... there are probably other ways.

To select multiple messages,

  • press the ⌘ key while selecting them, or
  • Edit > Select All, or
  • ⌘ A, or
  • ⇧ to create a continuous selection

... after which you can delete that selection.

Make a mistake?

  • Edit > Undo Delete Message, or
  • ⌘ Z, or
  • drag it out of the Trash, or
  • ... probably other ways I can't remember.
