Opening encrypted file in Time Machine

How do I open an encrypted file in Time Machine? The file is in a .dmg which I can see in the open Time Machine, but double-clicking does not bring up "Enter password ... ".

You must restore the file from within Time Machine to your hard drive and then open it. Open Time Machine from the menu bar,



go back in time to find the latest version of the dmg file, select it and restore.
