In my users folder (MacBook Pro 2019 running Catalina) there are duplicate folders, eg myname, myname 1, myname 1 2 3. They have different versions of the subfolders and different dates of creation and modification. Do I need to keep them all?

It is an odd situation.
You can compare the content of the folders— but from here it looks like you can delete the duplicates after you verify.
The Home Folder is the important folder/directory of all you users data.
I think it has come from changing physical computers and migrating data over, and upgrading OS's. Screen shot showing the information for each of my 3 users and the varying folders beneath each user
So is the home folder the one with house icon rather than the folder icon? That one has 210GB vs 30 or 40 for the others. The various folders hold different subfolders and so deleting any of them would seem to remove certain folders that are not present in the others...I'm not comfortable doing that yet. For instance the home folder (house icon) is missing the Desktop subfolder...?
