MacBook Air 2020 shows blurry when doing FaceTime

I just got my mine today particularly for zoom purposes and was so shocked to see the video image. Surely, Apple with all its high tech knowledge and at the price it charges, couldn't allow such a poor camera image. What is going on Apple?!

No nothing has been done and as a matter of fact no one from Apple has even responded. The lines and process to go to a store are dreadfully long so I dont really know whats going to happen at this point. I successfully talked my car salesman out of buying an apple on Monday. That will be something I will be very diligent about doing that is for certain.

Very disappointed with the Camera quality. Cant believe latest Mac M1 have similar to 2005 machine cam quality. Discussed with apple support, reset the machine, re-installed the OS but nothing better. Not sure what else to do at this time.

I am glad to know that I am not the only one with this issue. My MBA 2014 had a much better camera quality than my new 2020 MBA. I am so upset about it!! My partner purchased this laptop for me from PC World back in October for my birthday. The camera quality is so bad I have to use my old MBA to go on Zoom etc. I teach and this issue is just not acceptable for such an expensive machine!! Does anyone have any advice on how to get this problem resolved?

I've cleaned the screen using Apple guidelines (e.g., damp microfiber cloth) but picture still looks fuzzy (noisy video?) in FaceTime. A friend alerted me to the problem after we were in a Zoom event. Please advise.

I'm so disappointed! I kept rubbing cloth on the camera I thought it's just fingerprints or what. But no, it's just really crappy. I just got this like 2 days ago. I bought it from abroad so I don't think I can still return it. This is FAR from "Facetime HD".

Thank you njc263. I used ZOOM yesterday with my 2020 MacBook Air, and after noticing the very poor quality of the camera image checked my old 2014 version of MacBook Air which is much better. As you say, the 2020 version uses camera quality from 2005!!!

I am really disappointed with the quality of the camera on the Macbook Air 2020. It is very blurry and did not expect this poor quality after having spent so much. Surely Apple should fix this issue and I am sure they have the ability to do so.

I should of read this before getting MBP. I just got it today and the camera is just amazingly 240p. contact apple support and they didn't even tell me anything, all they said is to return it back to where I brought it. even my iPhone XR camera is better than this.

Facing the same problem .. i just purchase my macbook air 2020 and the camera is so bad!!!! The store not accept to trade in the laptop and get a latest macbook.. i just stuck with this macbook! .. and find out currently there is no solution from Apple for this! I’m so disappointed with Apple product .. Please 2021 all is virtual .. the reason i bought Macbook because of the camera quality .. but this macbook air make me really disappointed!!!!!

Has this model now been officially withdrawn? It also has other issues such as overheating, which mine did after a day of online teaching left on a flat surface with no air circulation. The internal ‘switches’ had be reset. A common problem the tech guy reported. Thousands of owners are now left with a dud

It’s very disappointing. But this happens to all MacBooks now. But these laptops cost a thousand dollars minimum. It’s unacceptable. Plus, If you want gaming, you can’t do that on a Mac. $1000 dollars for a bad camera and cheap graphics card.

And if you have a MacBook Air, then the cooling is really bad. MacBook Pro the cooling is so-so. But you said that you didn’t have air circulation? That could be your issue.the flat surface, like a desk, or table is good. But you want to leave probably at least half a foot.

Quite Right Alex. But should we be asked to buy a product that does not work properly on a flat surface? Apple seems to be having a laugh at our expense. I think it is time we might stop buying new Apple products with slavish devotion. Do you know if the new model is actually any better?

But as long as I heard you right, it didn’t have proper airflow. Also, you blowing out where the fans take air in, and push it out. Just blow in there a little. But you definitely want a few inches of free space around the back, and sides.

also, what Mac model do you have? The apple website says that the MacBook Air has no fans. And I believe that the MacBook Pro has 3.
