I just subscribed for Apple TV to use my 1 year free effective today, however when I select a show it is giving me a price and am hesitant to proceed cause I don’t want to get charged on my credit card.
Are there limitations on this 1 year free subscriptions? Would you kindly assist me as to how to proceed with this offer.

No. The paid subscription doesn't grant access to anything which the free one doesn't; it just increases the time for which you have access to it. No single plan covers all the video content.
If you're referring to a non-Apple subscription, check the documentation for it.
