Is it possible to turn off airpods' microphone on Mac ?

This time I am having lot of skype calls (lessons), I use airpods and I turn off the microphone on skype/teams, but the battery of my airpods lasts max 1,8 hour because it still broadcasts the sounds from microphone to Mac. Is it possible to deactivate it totally so I will be able to use Airpods normally for 4 hours ?

Using an external mic when in clamshell Mode Hi Everyone, Can I use an external USB mic while my Macbook Air M1 whilst is in clamshell mode from what I have read the answer is no. I can use my Airpods but the only last about 3 and a half hours which isn't great when you are using them for dictation and phone calls any help would be great? Thanks Joel
