not receiving notifications on new iPhone

I just purchased a new iPhone 11 Pro. Even though my notifications are turned on in settings for certain apps, I am not receiving notifications. For example, my son is set up on family share, however, I am not receiving his "ask to buy" requests, even though I have that turned on. I am speculating that somehow these notifications are still tied to my old phone. But I am not sure, and not sure how to enable this on my new phone. Please help!
