Internal SD card reader not working on Mac Mini 2010 after installing High Sierra

I'm recreating the following topic due to so much noise on this discussion. Most commenters were having trouble with internal SD card readers on 2010 Minis, but there was a lot of people were "finding" solutions for other problems.

So my question is: is there someone who solved the Mac Mini 2010 internal card reader issue on High Sierra? As an additional detail, High Sierra System Information shows the card reader after the standard resets (PRAM, NVRAM, SMC), but it still doesn't work, e.g., disk utility doesn't show unmounted cards.
