Inconsistent external monitor/display behavior after 10.15.4 Supplemental Update

Apple must have broke something with the external display code in 10.15.4 Supplemental Update. After the update, the connection to my external display using a Thunderbolt 3 dock became a lot flakier. When connecting/disconnecting the cable to the dock, the external display doesn't reconnect quickly. I usually have to restart the computer to make it work, which isn't ideal of course.

I have a 2019 MBP 13" i5 2.4Ghz quad core.

Thanks for the response. I have a Cable Matters Thunderbolt 3 dock and it's worked on the two previous generations of MacBook Pros across a number of macOS releases without a problem. It's only with this 10.15.4 Supplemental Release that I've seen these sort of issues with the display. The Cable Matters dock doesn't seem to use DisplayLink and they don't have any Mac drivers on their website. I'm still very much inclined to think this is a macOS update issue introduced in 10.15.4 Supplemental.
