How to email photos as attachments?

I have an iPhone XS. My parents use Gmail on a desktop PC. When I send them a photo, it stretches the email across the width of the photo at full resolution and makes it really difficult to read. They are always telling me to shrink my photos, but even at the smallest setting, it's annoying for them. I think its because the pics are being pasted in line with the text instead of being sent as an attachment. How do you send a photo as an attachment? I do not want it embedded in the text of the email. I want them to be able to open it using their photo viewer. I looked in the settings for Gmail, and I couldn't see anything that would change this on their end.

All photos are sent as attachments. Some email programs display the attachments in the body of the messages. There is nothing you can do, as it is the gmail client on your parents computer that displays and sizes the image. You can create a Google Photos account with a shared album that you share with your parents. Install the Google Photos app on your phone, and it will automatically upload all of your photos to Google Photos. You can then move the ones for your parents to the shared folder.

I have and gmail address and just sent an inserted file to myself on gmail. It arrived as a png file. When I clicked on it the image displayed correctly and was not distorted. File was sent from iPad to Gmail account to a Windows PC.

Maybe the problem is with some setting on the desktop computer. Perhaps you could setup a gmail account and explore the subject some more.

Hope this helps.
