iOS 13.4.1 battery drain

I have updated my iPad mini 2019 two days ago and battery is practically worst ever. By browsing only drops 1% per minute. Anyone experiencing same problem?

After putting in a few hours of research trying to figure out this issue someone recommended checking battery usage of apps and sure enough Siri was running 100%..!..It was suggested to completely turn off Siri on the device and also on iCloud, which I did and it completely fixed the issue immediately.

I was even having Issues with it charging quickly and those issues are also gone.

I believe that the update definitely effected how Siri runs in the background and I suggest you try the same to see if it works for you.

Holy Cow! No joke...I completely wasted 3 hours of my life last night by deleting my iPhone and reloading from backup, all for nothing. It turns out you were right. I turned off Siri and the phone has only used 5% battery in the past 6 hours. That is how it should be. I don’t use Siri and have no plans to in the future. Thanks for that awesome advice as it worked for me. I also turned it off on my iPad. Cheers, to you.

Nobody participating within the Apple Support Communities represent Apple; we’re all end-user customers just like you. Some of the more experienced (and sometimes less experienced) contributors volunteer their time and the benefit of their knowledge to help other with problems.

As Apple do not participate, no, you’ll not get any kind of official statement from them within the confines of the Apple Support Communities.

That said, whilst contributors here can often find or suggest possible solutions, we’re not miracle workers. As for having to “try things out”, yes, sometimes that is exactly what the end-user must do. Whilst many may complain of similar issues, the cause is sometimes not consistent.

As for software updates, sometimes things break during an update. That’s true of any computer system. You might be unlucky whilst others see no issues.

Sorry, but that’s a fundamental truth of computing.

Hi,

Inspired by your comment, I decided to give the full reset alternative a try and it did help! I made sure also to not use the recovery option (except that I backed up my whatsapp conversations and when I logged into iCloud my photos and contacts came back) and my battery is working normal, no draining.

I only have installed Whatsapp and before the reset, I transferred all my contacts from Google to iCloud so I don’t need to have my Google account on this phone. I’ll eventually gonna end up installing Gmail because is my main email but for the moment I’m still troubleshooting.

Siri is off, Bluetooth is off, FaceTime off, location services too, but I’m leaning to the idea that was some app causing the problem, I cannot say. I’m gonna be testing by adding apps and seeing what happen. By the moment I got the most boring phone but at least I can count on it will not shutdown when I will need it. Anyway, thanks for the enlightening, I feel more relieved now. Best regards

Jorge
