Just wanna save a clip

Hi... Just want to save a clip that I split in imovie.... as a separate file...

How do I do this? Should be relatively simple... basic... don't see a way to do it...

You need to select the clip in the timeline and do an Edit/Copy. Then create a new project and do and Edit/Paste of the clip into the new project. That will save your clip as a separate project that you can share out if you want.
