Treadmill Desk & Counting Steps

I just switched over from FitBit to Apple Watch. I use a treadmill desk while I’m working and wondered if there was any way to count the steps as part of my activity with the Apple Watch? I’ve looked all over the internet and it seems the only way I can do this is to put it in my pocket (but then it won’t measure heart rate or any other metrics).

I’ve thought of a few scenarios. Does anyone have anything else they can think of?

  1. Is there a way to use my Fitbit in my pocket or attached to my shoe to count the steps and sync it with Apple?
  2. Is there a pedometer I can but that’s compatible with Apple?
  3. Can I manually enter the steps into an app that will add them to my daily activity?

Thanks!

There have been people that were not allowed to wear the watch on their wrist while in the work place, so they would strap it to their ankle, and get their steps counted that way.

The pocket doesn't work well, as step counting is basically counting arm swing, which has a forward acceleration, then deceleration, then a backward acceleration and then deceleration. Wash, rinse, repeat.

The Ankle will do that, the pocket not so much. Your arm on a keyboard, no so much.
