Logitech MX Anywhere 2S Mouse not connecting

Hi, Isee this question has been asked before, but all the solutions suggested, have not worked for me.

I have a Macbook pro mid 2012, runing OS 10.12.6 ( Sierra). The MX mouse will pair momentarily, not work then disconnect. I'm trying to connect with blutooth, not the wireless ( not bluetooth I think) USB dongle that comes wth the mouse. I can connect with the dongle, but that's not a viable solution for me.

My Kensington pilot mini bluetooth mouse works fine.

the logitech MX mouse works with my son's Mac mini running OS 10.14.6

I've gone through all the trouble shooting ideas on Logitech's site, and have been communicating with the Logitech support (who don't seem to have a clue BTW) They've even sent a replacement mouse, but it doesn't work in exactly the same way.

Ive tried resetting the bluetooth module, resetting the pRAM,and SMC, deleted the bluetooth plist and shut down waited 10 minutes and restarted. Nothing works.

I've seen others complain about the same problems with OS 10.13, but I've not seen any complaints about the mouse with OS10.14. Is it likely that updating to OS10.14 will solve the problem?

I am reluctant to update, because that will probably mean my Adobe studio CS4 will stop working, and I will NOT be updating that to the current subscription model ( ripoff in my books) so I'll then have to find an alternative for that.

Any suggestions for further solutions or experiences with updating to 10.14 solving the issue?

I'd most appreciate any feedback.

thanks

Graeme

Hi there, Graeme,

Thanks for visiting the Apple Support Communities. I understand you have a Logitech MX Anywhere 2s mouse that is not working with your MacBook Pro, though it does work with your son's Mac mini. I'm happy to help!

I see that your Mac is currently running macOS 10.12.6 Sierra. According to the technical specifications on Logitech's website, the MX Anywhere 2s mouse requires macOS 10.13 High Sierra or later to function properly: Logitech MX Anywhere 2s Multi-Device Wireless Mouse Designed to Work Anywhere. This is likely why it works on your son's Mac Mini (which I see running macOS 10.14 High Sierra), but not your MacBook Pro.

To resolve the issue you are experiencing, you can update your macOS software. Your MacBook Pro appears to be compatible with the latest macOS version of 10.15 Catalina, this is the available version you can upgrade to: How to upgrade to macOS Catalina - Apple Support.

Best.

Hi Graeme,

I have just been having exactly the same issue with you (same laptop, same mouse, same trouble connecting via Bluetooth) except I was already running OS 10.13.6 High Sierra and yet was still having no luck.

I have therefore gone ahead and installed 10.15.14 Catalina, then went through the same connection process with the mouse and, thankfully, it worked first time!

Good luck, cheers.

Thanks Sarah_s1.

I don't know why I couldn't find that minimum requirement when I looked. Its a shame Logitech support couldn't tell me that straight up. They kept telling me it should work on my Mac.

Ok, so if I update, there's a good chance it will work.

Unfortunately, that probably means I'll lose access to my Adobe CS4 suite. I guess I'll have to weigh up the pros and cons.

Thanks

Graeme
