Hi

I have been given my first mac, macbook air, from my partner and I wish to change the Macintosh HD into my name. How do i do that?


I tried using the apple chat however its out of warranty and not covered.

Your partner should have prepared the computer to be given away by following this Apple article:

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201065


I highly recommend you do this so the OS is clean and only your stuff is on the computer.

That clarifies what you are attempting to change. You can use the steps listed in: Change the name of your macOS user account and home folder - Apple Support, but please heed the warning listed...

"Because doing this incorrectly could damage your account and prevent you from logging in, you should back up your important data before proceeding."
