Can't Select Text to Copy and Paste

Yeah I don’t know what they want me to update. My phone is updated! Can’t update if there isn’t an update. My daughter tried to tell me I wasn’t doing the copy right. I was like yes I am! How can I copy and paste from the comment section if I’m not doing it right? Ugh! I want some answers. I actually tried to contact Apple through my phone. I don’t remember what the message was I got but it wouldn’t let me contact them. If I figure anything out I’ll post it. I have thought about factory resetting the phone but I’m afraid despite iCloud that I will lose my pictures and contacts

On many of the occasions I do seem to copy to the clipboard and paste seems to fail (eg copy a term or text from one app to paste it into a form field on another app) I’ve tried pasting the clipboard onto a note content. And I’ve noticed that while the text I selected was all on one line on the app I copied it from, when pasted into a note, the text is multi line with a new line as the first thing and or it also varies with it formatting like font size , bold setting and the like , as if it’s an html formatted document fragment.

Seriously we are not mostly copying text around from one word document into another, it’s simple text to get a part description from the Amazon app to a google search , or from a web page to past into a new contacts entry. Maybe the pointless formatting crap that comes with the copy is of course what causes the past into a form field to fail.

Today August 14, 2020 I JUST updated my software to iOS 13.6.1 and it STILL will not copy and paste in Facebook. There are NO pop up menus with ANY options that come up much less with a copy or paste options. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled Facebook ap. I have a iPhone SE. I hate it! too many issues and bugs. I have the settings to update the software automatically in a wi-fi area and it never does. I look at it once a week to see if there are any updates and then manually update them.

I have contacted apple and they blame it on FB. I contacted FB and they blamed it on Apple. If you go back to factory settings wont you lose EVERYTHING on your phone, contacts, everything?

8plus IOS 13.6.1 After the last update, my copy and paste no longer works. I cannot copy from email and paste to calendar, or text or email. The copy button shows up but the paste does not. And on the rare occasion the paste button shows up, nothing happens.

I’ve had this issue and I’ve googled it and can’t seem to resolve it either . I was able to copy one day and the next day I was u able to copy anything off of Facebook . Extremely frustrating since I need to for work . I can only copy from the comments. All my friends are still able to copy and they have the same phone as me iPhone X. I’ve reset my phone and deleted and reinstalled Facebook . This has been happening for about a week and my phone is up to date. If anyone figures out how to fix this extremely annoying issue let me know

So I downloaded the new software and now it won’t save photos to google photos anymore and when I go to post anything it will not give choices from all of my photos! I hate this phone! If I could get my money back I would in a second!

I really hope that Apple fixes this issue cause I can’t copy and paste anything since this last update and it’s very frustrating cause I used to copy and paste many things and now I can’t do it. So I hope apple reads this and fixes this. They might end up losing many customers dues to this issue. Have you received any help with this issue and has it been fixed for you?

Oh dear! It is as bad or worse with the new update!? Oh my it’s such a critical function. In mine it seems mainly to malfunction only copying from my gmail and now pdf’s but I was waiting till the latest edition got better not worse!

It is not worse after the update but selecting only works in a couple of apps. I have an iPhone 8S I believe so I need to do something since the battery has started going downhill also. And it is super slow..... I don’t know why. Those are other issues.

Meh - copy and paste still hasn't been fixed. This seems to be one of those Apple doesn't like Google things. I can make copy and paste work in Apple to Apple apps but not in Chrome or Gmail. Come on Apple, stop being so petty and play nice with others. Like seriously, you've got some great products and a HHUUUUGGGGEEEE market cap but you upset customer loyalty when you don't allow apps to work well together. FFS

Exactly! Maybe they are simply not cutting edge enough and can’t hack the complexities any more? I’ve been considering moving to another company they don’t seem to care enough. Even their 11 face recognition app stops working like the fingerprint tech after a few weeks. It’s like arcade gimmicks put out fast without the deep testing or follow up.

I guess bring as it's either a limited issue they haven't seen it happen, or they just don't care about fixing it because it's not effecting enough customers. I'm sure they can fix it, they just don't want to be bothered

I have an iPhone 10 XR, running IOS 14, and I have the exact same problem. People keep referring to 3rd party apps, that is NOT my problem. My problem is copying my own text messages. The pop up menu with the copy icon does not appear. It works in notes, but not when you want to edit your own text before you send it. I have to copy the whole thing and paste in notes to edit. I also miss how you used to be able to select/highlight a specific part, and drag the cursor down to continue highlighting a specific section, now it just bounces back up to the top in messenger. Again, I have to copy and paste the whole thing in notes to edit. This is something that most people use everyday. Were you ever able to figure this out?

Yeah, I been having the same issues. I am writing a new text message to someone and would to send the same text to someone else but with some edits so I was trying copy my own text before sending it on my IPhone XS with the latest firmware and was not able to. I have noticed functions like copying and pasting are getting WORSE WITH NEW SW updates! I thought SW updates were supposed to make them better. I don’t get it. Try writing a new text message; before sending it, try to copy it.

I can’t copy/paste even in Notes, or eMail. The Copy/Paste option sometimes appears (after what seems like an eternity if trying to select the text to be copied), but thats random... and maddening. HELP!! iPhone 8, recently updated.
